Ekstraklasa has suspended their competitions, however football can be played not only on the fields. Supporting the idea of social distancing and staying at home, we have decided to organise an esports tournament under the slogan: Ekstraklasa #StayHome with FIFA20.
The key to stop spreading this epidemic is to avoid leaving your home, which is also the main purpose of the tournament organised by Ekstraklasa. Anyone with a PlayStation or Xbox can enter the competition, regardless of their age. We encourage both the fans of Ekstraklasa clubs and those who play FIFA20 to participate, whether they are amateurs or professional players. Everyone has a chance to face a real player from one of the Ekstraklasa clubs, who are also participating in the competition.
Our tournament will be held from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 March – the launch is scheduled for Friday 6 p.m. and for 4 p.m. on Saturday & Sunday. The tournament uses a play-off system – up to one victory in the initial rounds and up to two wins from the quarter-finals. The losing player is eliminated from further competition. Each day is a separate competition – therefore we will select six winners on two consoles. The best players will be awarded with official PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa balls – adidas Uniforia – and gaming accessories funded by Media Expert.
Registration for the tournament starts on Monday 23 March from 1 p.m. and will last up to fifteen minutes before the start of each tournament day. You can sign up at EkstraklasaGames.org. We play in FUT mode, and one of the key conditions is having a team composed entirely of Ekstraklasa footballers.
The Polish league is one of the first to obtain from the publisher of the game – EA Sports – a permission to organise this type of competition since the suspension of the official esports tournaments. We work intensively on further projects involving clubs and fans in virtual games related to Ekstraklasa.
