

Ekstraklasa S.A. is extending the number of countries where it will be broadcasting league games. Contracts covering 23 countries have been signed for the seasons from 2021/22 to 2024/25, including with Viasat Sport East in Russia and 11 other countries. A new version of the OTT
- We are constantly working on increasing the availability of our games on international TV channels. This secures not only the ties with the Polish fans, but also the wider promotion of our league. These contracts also translate into our revenues and, consequently, into payments for clubs. Our strength, facilitating negotiations with partners, lies in the fact that, through our own production company, Ekstraklasa Live Park, we produce the signal of our matches in-house, in the highest quality, both in terms of technology and the way of presenting the sports event. We also have full technological capacity to immediately enable broadcasts in any country. We have a ready product and we can implement it immediately after signing the contract – says Marcin Animucki, president of the management board of Ekstraklasa SA.

PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa matches in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will be broadcast in the seasons 2021/22 and 2022/23 on the Viasat Sport East channel. It will show 68 matches in each season on pay-TV and through a parallel broadcast online. Games will also be available to watch as part of the catch-up-tv service for 72 hours after the broadcast. In Russia, Viasat Sport East also has the rights to show such leagues and events as National Football League, Major League Baseball, Indycar Series, Swedish Hockey League and others.
50 PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa matches in the seasons from 2021/22 to 2024/25 will be broadcast in Germany, Austria and Switzerland by Sportdigital and Onefootball, while in seven Balkan countries all matches will be broadcast on Arena Sport TV in Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Kosovo. From 2021/22 to 2024/25, broadcasts in Israel will be made available by Charlton TV sports channels.
- This is not the end of our international contracts announcements for this season - we are still working on another important agreement that will significantly boost the current statistics. Moreover, we have already started preparations for the next process of selling media rights on the domestic market, which we plan to launch in September - explains Animucki.
As part of the development of sales of international broadcasting rights, Ekstraklasa has also joined the media rights centralization project organized under the auspices of European Leagues and is part of a strategic group planning the entire process. The joint offer, currently offered to various foreign partners, includes content from eight leagues, including the Swiss Credit Suisse Super League, the Norwegian Eliteserien, the Danish Superligaen, the Irish Danske Bank Premiership, the Slovak Fortuna Liga, the Latvian Optibet Virsligi, the Icelandic Premier League, the Kazakhstan league with cup competitions and Super Cup B. Completion of the sales process is planned for August this year.
From August 2019, live broadcasts of all PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa matches around the world, in addition to Poland and the Balkan countries covered by exclusive license agreements, are also available on the OTT – Ekstraklasa. TV platform in the subscription or pay per view system. From the 2021/22 season, this platform operates in a new version providing live matches in the European Union, outside of Poland. Viewers outside of the European Union and within Poland can enjoy accessing match highlights and shoulder content until the new update has been released.
Since November 2018, Ekstraklasa has been independently selling centralized media rights in Poland and abroad. Since 2011, it has also been producing the broadcasts of all matches by its subsidiary – Ekstraklasa Live Park. The signal is produced in the highest quality of 4K/Ultra HD (Ekstraklasa was the first entity in Poland with its own transmission vehicle in 4K technology) and transmitted via optical fiber to the London distribution center – BT Tower, from which broadcasters from all countries can download the signal.
