During a special press conference attended by media representatives, partners, and invited guests, Ekstraklasa SA officially inaugurated preparations for the celebrations of the centenary of league competitions in Poland.
The upcoming season will be a special one for Polish club football. In the 2026/27 season, Ekstraklasa will celebrate the 100th anniversary of league competition, with the culmination of the jubilee celebrations taking place on 3 April 2027 – exactly one hundred years after the first historic matchday was played in 1927.
Part of the visual identity of the celebrations will be a jubilee competition logo enriched with the "100" symbol. It will accompany all of the league's activities throughout the entire season. As part of the celebrations, fans can expect a range of new initiatives, including: a new television presentation for PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa matches, a new website and mobile app, and special marketing campaigns supporting "Moda na Kibicowanie".
– One hundred years of top-flight league competition in Poland means one hundred years of emotion, sporting rivalry and countless stories created by successive generations of players, coaches, officials and fans. We are marking the centenary jubilee at a special moment for Polish club football. Our stadiums are attracting record numbers of supporters, the competition is recording its highest-ever viewing figures, and Polish clubs are competing ever more effectively on the international stage. We have worked together towards this moment for many years, and that is why we are preparing for the 2026/2027 season with even greater pride and responsibility – says Marcin Animucki, President of the Management Board of Ekstraklasa SA.
- This will be a special season, full of references to the rich history of Polish club football and one that sets the direction for its further development. We believe it will bring fans yet more unforgettable emotions and our clubs further sporting success. The jubilee logo, the dedicated Ekstraklasa PRO ball and the new Polish Champion trophy are symbols of this unique moment and at the same time an expression of our responsibility to continue strengthening the Ekstraklasa brand and building its position for decades to come – adds Marcin Animucki.
- Just a few days after the conclusion of an exciting PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa season, we are stepping into a unique centenary jubilee – with fresh energy and deep respect for tradition. As part of our preparations for the 2026/2027 season, during which we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of league competition, we have presented three key elements that we see as the pillars of the upcoming season. The first is the competition logo prepared for the centenary. It will accompany us throughout the entire season, during which we are planning many marketing activations promoting our competition, Ekstraklasa clubs and, of course, the culture of supporting. The second element is the new official competition ball, the Ekstraklasa PRO by adidas. For the first time in the history of the competition, it has a dedicated and unique technologically advanced football model. The third, hugely exciting element that was presented is the new Polish champion trophy, redesigned to mark the 100th anniversary of league competition. This extraordinarily precious statuette has retained its historic shape, which has been given an entirely new external appearance – says Marcin Mikucki, Director of the Communications, Marketing and Sales Department at Ekstraklasa SA.
The press conference was hosted by Remigiusz Kula from Canal+. In the first part, Wojciech Bajak, Ekstraklasa's statistician, spoke about the beginnings of league competition, the clubs that had the greatest influence on the development of the Polish league, and stories that have since been forgotten but are worth recalling. - The centenary is a major event in the history of the league. We must appreciate that we have one hundred years of tradition behind us, and that is a treasure not granted to everyone, even on a European scale. There is no exaggeration whatsoever in comparing the achievements of, say, Mikael Ishak and Henryk Reyman, even though nearly ten decades separate those two players – said Wojciech Bajak.
The conference also saw the presentation of the new official match ball, the Ekstraklasa PRO, produced by adidas. For the first time in history, the top flight in Poland has received a fully dedicated ball model created exclusively for PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa. It is distinguished by its seamless construction, a technologically advanced surface and a system of precisely positioned embossed panels that improve flight stability and ball control. The colour scheme of the model directly references Ekstraklasa's visual identity, underlining the unique character of the jubilee season. It is the first fully dedicated adidas ball in the history of the competition, prepared exclusively for PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa.
– adidas's partnership with Ekstraklasa has now lasted over a decade, and we are very proud that at such an important moment as the centenary jubilee we are able to present a unique ball dedicated to the top flight in our country. We prepared the ball with the utmost attention to detail. We used Ekstraklasa's visual identity, giving it a dynamic character that perfectly reflects the development of both the league itself and our partnership. We can't wait to see it on Ekstraklasa pitches in the upcoming season – said Patryk Cebartowski, Director of Sports Marketing at adidas CEE, during the conference.
During the event, a promotional film for the new Ekstraklasa PRO ball, created by online content creators Polish Ballers, was also presented.
The opening matchday of the 2026/2027 PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa season will take place on 24–26 July 2026.
