Kolejorz finished the 2025/2026 season in 1st place in the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa table. The team of coach Niels Frederiksen collected 60 points, won 16 of 34 matches, recorded 12 draws and suffered only 6 defeats. The title was sealed in matchday 33 after a 3:1 victory over Radomiak Radom, and the champions of Poland closed the season with a 2:2 draw against Wisła Płock at Bułgarska.
The road to the 10th title was not straightforward from the opening weeks. Lech began the campaign with a 1:4 home defeat to Cracovia, and in autumn there were moments of inconsistent play. However, the months after the winter break proved decisive. In spring, the Poznań side reached championship level: they picked up points regularly, won tight matches, and in the most important weeks managed to combine attacking effectiveness with an unbeaten run. Even before the final matchday they had gone 9 matches in a row without defeat, including 6 wins and 3 draws.
The symbol of this run-in was Lech's attacking power. In the last six home matches before the end of the season, Kolejorz scored 19 goals, an average of more than 3 goals per game. During that period at Bułgarska they won, among others, 3:0 against Piast Gliwice, 4:3 against Raków Częstochowa, 4:1 against Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza and 4:0 against Legia Warszawa. It was precisely that April run of five consecutive home matches with a minimum of three goals that was the previous LOTTO Number of the Month.
The most prolific player for Lech in the season was Mikael Ishak. The captain of the Polish champions scored 16 goals and added 5 assists, giving him 21 points in the scoring charts. The team's second top scorer was Luis Palma with 10 goals, while Ali Gholizadeh and Leo Bengtsson each netted 6. Palma was also Lech's leading assist provider – according to seasonal records he registered 6 goal-creating passes. Joel Pereira and Mikael Ishak each recorded 5 assists.
Lech also stood out in team statistics. They finished the season with the most points, the fewest defeats, the best goal difference (+17) and the most points collected away from home – 32. On opponents' grounds they won 9 matches, the most in the league. They were also the most prolific home side: in 17 matches at Bułgarska they scored 39 goals. In total they scored 62 goals, the same as Lechia Gdańsk, but unlike the Gdańsk side they were able to convert their attacking output into a championship points tally.
Even before matchday 34, Lech led in many of the most important offensive and quality rankings. They had the most shots attempted, the most shots on target, the highest xG, the highest xG per match, the best passing accuracy and the most touches in the opponent's penalty area. They were also the only team with over 1,000 touches in the opponents' box.
The number 10 carries historical significance for Lech. The club from Poznań won the Polish championship in the following years: 1983, 1984, 1990, 1992, 1993, 2010, 2015, 2022, 2025 and 2026. Thanks to this year's triumph, Kolejorz joined the group of clubs with a double-digit championship tally – Wisła Kraków have 13 titles to their name, Górnik Zabrze and Ruch Chorzów have 14 each, while the leader in this regard is Legia Warszawa, who have stood on the top step of the league podium 15 times.
This title has one more special context: Lech defended the championship. In the club's history this had previously been achieved after the 1983 and 1992 seasons, when Poznań also won the league in 1984 and 1993 respectively. Now the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 seasons have joined those pairs. This is the first instance in the 21st century that Lech Poznań has claimed the Polish championship two times in a row.
Recent years show that the Poznań side is among the most consistently elite in the competition. In the last five seasons Lech has been Polish champion three times: in 2022, 2025 and 2026. During the same period they finished on the podium four times, and in the last 14 seasons they have finished in the top three no fewer than 10 times. This is another chapter in a longer process of building the club's standing.
The LOTTO Number of the Month in May could only be one. Lech's ten means a championship, a title defence, entry into a historic group and confirmation that in the 2025/2026 season the most consistent team in the league played at Bułgarska.
The selection of the LOTTO Number of the Month in the 2025/2026 edition is made each time on the basis of on-pitch events, traditional statistics and tracking data from ChyronHego. Each month Ekstraklasa together with Totalizator Sportowy decides which statistics, events or records will be recognised. At the end of the season a committee composed of representatives of Ekstraklasa SA and Totalizator Sportowy will select the winner of the "Number of the Season" award. In May, achievements from the period covering matchdays 31 to 34 were taken into account.
